KLM, which is the abbreviation for Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij N.V. (translates simply to The Royal Dutch Airlines), is one of the largest civil aviation enterprises in the Netherlands. KLM began providing service to the people of the United Kingdom and Holland since the year 1980 but was later in the year 2004 merged with Air France. This gave the airline a bigger market to explore and Air France, a trustworthy partner in the British Isles. The airline has been known for its low-cost services around the world for many years now. After 11 years with Air France the KLM airline has not lost its identity and employs more than 300 thousand Dutch citizens. The onboard services reflect the rich traditions of the Dutch and even the fabrication is a peek into the past colonial glory of the Dutch empire. The characteristic orange colour can be seen all around the aircraft. The central hub of the airline remains the Amsterdam Schiphol International Airport and its headquarters are located in Amstelveen. KLM Services After the alliance, the joint hub was opened at the Paris Charles De Gaulle International Airport. The airline has now become a part of the Sky Team alliance as well. This has brought an air of modernisation in many services, including onboard entertainment. Audio-Video on Demand and personalised entertainment systems are now provided to all passengers whether they travel by economy class or by First class. In UAE In the United Arab Emirates the name of KLM Airlines is popular for low-cost economy transportation. It has many code-share agreements with other low-fare service providers in the UAE, including Fly Dubai.
